What else on St. Patrick's Day? Put with cabbage kim chee. The ginger in the kim chee went well with the coriander and mustard of the corned beef.

I was intending to come home and have the leftover chicken and mushroom sauce. Then it dawned on me that I also had some leftover Italian bread and tomato sauce. I'd had this dish in my head for awhile from Julia's Way to Cook. Bought some shrimp on the way home. Took like 10 minutes to put together.

Like when you know you're going to die. Ribeye with shiraz-mushroom sauce, fried potatoes (in schmaltz) with bacon and bleu cheese.

Probably the longest standing and most-made dish in my repertoire: sauteed chicken, onion, and peppers with penne and olive oil. Garnished with parmesan, parsley, pine nuts, and a little reduced balsamic.

Made with a pan sauce. Penne can be done like risotto; it pickes up lots of flavor and comes out creamy without having to add cream.

I went through sort of a beet phase for awhile after buying a big bag from the produce market. This was good but needed something to pull it all together.

Made the risotto way with stock and marsala. Some spinach and sun-dried tomato too.
